Anna Fox

Nascida em 1961 e completando sua graduação em Estudos Audiovisuais no Surrey Institute, Farnham em 1986, Anna Fox trabalha com fotografia e vídeo há mais de vinte anos. Influenciada pela tradição documental britânica e pelos ‘New Colourists’ dos EUA, a sua primeira obra Workstations (publicada e exibida pela primeira vez na Camerawork, Londres, 1988) observou, com um olhar crítico, a cultura de escritórios de Londres nos meados anos de Thatcher. Posteriormente trabalhou documentando os weekends wargames, FriendlyFire foi exibido na exposição Warworks at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Netherlands Foto Institute and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. Realizou exposições individuais na Photographer’s Gallery, London, The Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, e seu trabalho foi incluído em inúmeros exposições coletivas internacionais – Through the Looking Glass, Centre of the Creative Universe: Liverpool e a Avant-garde and How We Are: Photographing Britain, entre outros. Seu trabalho foi citado em diversos textos, um novo livro de sua obra, Anna Fox Photographs 1983-2007, editado por Val Williams foi publicado pela Photoworks em 2007 e uma nova exposição de seu trabalho Cockroach Diary and Other Stories, curada por Anne McNeill é atualmente visitado pela Impressions Gallery. Anna Fox é professora de fotografia na University for the Creative Arts at Farnham.

Born in 1961 and completing her degree in Audio Visual studies at The Surrey Institute, Farnham in 1986, Anna Fox has been working in photography and video for over twenty years.
 Influenced by the British documentary tradition and US ‘New Colourists’ her first work Workstations (published by and exhibited first at Camerawork, London 1988) observed, with a critical eye, London office culture in the mid Thatcher years. Later work documenting weekend wargames, Friendly Fire, was exhibited in the exhibition Warworks at the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Netherlands Foto Institute and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. Her solo shows have been seen at The Photographer’s Gallery, London, The Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago and her work has been included in numerous international group shows – Through the Looking Glass, Centre of the Creative Universe: Liverpool and the Avant-garde and How We Are: Photographing Britain amongst others. She has had several monographs of her work published, a new book of her work, Anna Fox Photographs 1983 -2007, edited by Val Williams was published by Photoworks in 2007 and a new exhibition of her work Cockroach Diary and Other Stories, curated by Anne McNeill is currently toured by Impressions Gallery. Anna Fox is Professor of Photography at University for the Creative Arts at Farnham
