NICOLAS HENRY
Nicolas Henry é graduado pela Beaux-Arts de Paris e pela Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Paris-Cergy. Ele se formou na indústria cinematográfica como diretor de cinema no Instituto Emily Carr de Arte e Design em Vancouver, Canadá. Seguindo uma carreira como designer de iluminação e cenógrafo na indústria do entretenimento (música, dança contemporânea e teatro), ele viajou o mundo por três anos como diretor do projeto “6 bilhões de outros” de Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Ele foi o diretor artístico da exposição no Grand Palais no início de 2009. Ele então embarcou em tempo integral em seu trabalho fotográfico pessoal, viajando pelo mundo para produzir uma série de retratos de ancestrais de todo o mundo “Les cabanes de nos grands- pais “(Editions Actes Sud), mesclando instalações plásticas e retratos fotográficos. O seu segundo livro, testemunho de um teatro itinerante instalado em comunidades de todo o mundo “Contes imaginaires autour du monde – O mundo em construção” (Edições Albin Michel), recebe o Prémio do Livro de Arte Mediterrânica 2017. Seguem-se dois contos fotográficos , o “Candelabro Kitihawa” na história afro-americana e “as aventuras de Supershaktiman” entre a Índia e Marrocos. Para marcar o 70º aniversário da Emaús, ele produziu um longo trabalho fotográfico sobre a pobreza extrema na França. Atualmente está a trabalhar em diálogo com a associação “Lire et faire lire” criada por Alexandre Jardin e patrocinadores da associação como Daniel Pennac e Leila Slimani, para preparar o 20º aniversário da associação Place du Panthéon.

Nicolas Henry is a graduate of the Beaux-Arts de Paris and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Paris-Cergy. He trained in the film industry as a film director at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada. Following a career as a lighting designer and scenographer in the entertainment industry (music, contemporary dance and theatre), he travelled the world for three years as director for Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s “6 billion others” project. He was the artistic director for the exhibition at the Grand Palais in early 2009. He then embarked full-time on his personal photographic work, travelling the world to produce a series of portraits of ancestors from around the world “Les cabanes de nos grands-parents” (Editions Actes Sud), mixing plastic installations and photographic portraits. His second book, testimony of an itinerant theatre set up in communities around the world “Contes imaginaires autour du monde – World’s in the making” (Editions Albin Michel), receives the Mediterranean Art Book Award 2017. This will be followed by two photographic tales, the “Kitihawa Chandelier” on African American history, and “the adventures of Supershaktiman” between India and Morocco. To mark the 70th anniversary of Emmaus, he has produced a long photographic work on extreme poverty in France. He is currently working in dialogue with the association “Lire et faire lire” created by Alexandre Jardin and sponsors of the association such as Daniel Pennac and Leila Slimani, to prepare the 20th anniversary of the association Place du Panthéon.
